Hi , I'm Billie Jean! I'm a young girl at 2yrs old and came to Wagging Tails from the border area after being abandoned by my family.

Billie Jean is a Brittany Spaniel, she was found abandoned and starving at the border and brought to us by one of our rescue partners. She was clearly a family dog a one point, she knows her commands and given her breed and treat motivation has shown us she can be trained. Billie Jean has been with us for some months while we consulted with trainers and worked on some of her negative behaviors that are common to her breed, young age and the fact that she was in an abusive home. Billie Jean has absolutely blossomed over the last couple of months and is now a model foster dog. Her ideal family will either have experience with certain breeds like GSD or hunting dogs (pointers, setters, hounds etc) or be committed to continue working on her training. Ideally they will have a backyard so she can spend part of her day watching the squirrels and birds (she doesn't bark or chase, her breed loves to watch and point). They will also need to be able to take her on walks, she adores going on walks and to fiesta island and this has been a huge help with her training. She will do well as an only dog, she loves cuddles from her humans and adores children, but we recommend a family only with older children so everyone is on board with training. Billie Jean does have a strong prey drive for cats, so cannot be a home with cats.
